Although not traditionally used for soundboards, we started experimenting with Nicaraguan cocobolo on several of our ukuleles in 2013 and we were impressed with the results. Most of the sound from a ukulele is produced by the wood used for the top, or soundboard. We discovered that using a Nicaraguan cocobolo soundboard produces a warm and clear sound, with impressive volume and sustain.

We were so impressed with the quality of sound that we decided to develop a Special Edition Cocobolo Top model. We had such a positive response from our customers that about 90% of our ukuleles now have cocobolo soundboards. The combination of the beauty and the sound is hard to beat.

Our clientele has evolved into experienced musicians who are looking for something exotic and unique with a sound to match. Our ukuleles are truly unique instruments that are worthy of showing off to your friends and family.
